The Women's Centre of Halton was started in 1989 when Anne Day, then Chair of the Board of Halton Women's Place, realized that we needed to help women before they needed shelter services. Joined by phenomenal women like Bev LeFrancois, Rudi van Jaarsveld, Anne Parry, Ruth Sheridan, Karen Thompson and many other trailblazers, they started as a resource point, handing out pamphlets, flyers and providing peer support.
They sowed a seed of benevolence that continues to flourish today. We continue to support the shelter through wrap around services, systems navigation support and compassionate care. Any woman who walks through our door is welcomed as we help her find herself, find her home, find her Centre.
